2016 F-One summed into 1 phrase ( Color Your Ride )
We take a in-depth review into the new 2016 product line from French kite company F-One. 2016 starts off with a goal to color everyone’s ride, the idea of being noticed for once has set off a impressive start to the year. F-One is in the 9th generation their most popular kite the Bandit. Yet, most kiters have no idea F-One has three other models in the lineup (Trust, Diablo, and a new race kite). F-one shocked the market when they went back to their roots designing a Foil kite named the Diablo. LTD tested the prior year Trust kites yet never got a solid response until 2016. F-One owner Raphael Salles, tells us about the new Lite Tech construction brought over from the snow board industry and the first ever twin tip lineup, along with what else we can expect from F-ONE in 2016.
Almost 90 prototypes were developed before the finial production Bandit B9
B9 gets a major face lift with vibrant colors and a wide selection to accommodate any kiters style. Performance has never been better with the most versatile kite in the range. The new bandit delivers equal height to prior models but has two benefits not found in the past years. First the hang time is noticeably longer gone are the days of boosting huge and falling hard. Second the light wind range is improved on the 11m’s on up and an improved swing rate on all models allows for an increased top end. The bad is F-One failed to meet the industry standard in valve technology. That a mute point once you connect the new High Volume Pump. Once again the bandit is F-One’s top kite and geared to the intermediate to advanced rider looking to up their game.
The best kite you’ve never heard of
The 2016 F-One Trust is a freeride machine dedicated to honoring the all around kiter looking to get the most of every session. If your new to the sport the Trust package could be your ticket to the show. The problem is F-One did such a good job with the award winning Bandit no one has ever heard of the Trust. Not to worry our Dream Team is fully backing this kite and its flooding Fort Walton Beach sky’s. so just how good is the Trust? We took out the frist 13m trust and rode it for hours but before we packed her away we offered a demo to three local kiters. one by one they came off the kite talking it up comparied to their loyal brands (Cabrinha, Slingshot, Flexi foil). All three now own a Trust and continue to share the kite with others.
F-One goes back to the roots & climb’s to the top of podiums
The Diablo is dominating the Foil racing scene.
When we decided to start the foil kite program it was only because we were able to collaborate with a state-of-the-art designer from the paragliding industry, namely Mr. Gin Seok Song.
GIN Gliders Paragliding is a leading brand of high-end and competition paragliders. The Diablo was designed by Gin Seok Song and then tested and developed by two previous paragliding world champions: GIN test pilot, Hans Bollinger, and our own designer, Robert Graham. They used advanced design and manufacturing technologies that have been acquired through many years of paragliding. The experience of this collaboration has enabled us to quickly build a kite that has already placed F-ONE team riders on the podium of international competitions.
The collaboration between F-ONE and GIN Gliders was natural because both companies are driven by the same passion: a passion for our respective sports as well as uncompromising dedication to creating premium products and innovation.
One important detail about the kite is F-One doesn’t offer color selection, well each size comes in a specific color. If comparing the diablo to a LEI kite think small. We’ve been able to to out fly 15 and 16m kites with a 12m Diablo. Now that the Diablo has been out for some time were seeing a trend at the podiums. F-One clearly made a dominating kite fro racing but it also fly’s upwind, has you out on the water before anyone else and has the biggest hang time of any kite we tested this year.
Boards and more
With an industry first Lite Tech is sure to catch your eye but what’s the real benefit? Technology from snowboards have been used in making high quality Kite boards for years, it only seems natural to give Lite tech a try. The HRD rail design is back with superior comfort and edge control. There most popular board the TRAX comes in a wider verity of sizes. The ACID is our favorite with an impressive mix of freestyle and new school feel. Don’t be fouled by the smaller sizes these board ride big. The Next has been a shop favorite to offer all the essentials of getting up and going without worrying about selling your first board cause you’ve out grown her. F-One nailed the design of the new Platinum P3 foot pads that come standard on most models.
